A real tradition of harvest
Savéol vegetable growers harvest loose tomatoes by hand, and tomatoes on the vine using shears.
The harvesting stage is a real tradition for us; we comply with the Savéol quality specifications, which recommend an ideal stage for the collection for each variety. To determine this, we use a colour grid shared by the vegetable growers and the packaging stations. All our tomatoes are thus harvested ripe to guarantee an optimum Brix value, meaning the desired sugar/acidity ratio.
On the very day of the harvest, we deliver the tomatoes or strawberries to the station to preserve their freshness. Each batch is then submitted for approval. And if all the qualitative criteria are not met, the batch is refused and returned to the growing operation. We receive regular reports. This way we can help each other continue to make progress on quality.
