Guénolé Quéméneur

If I were ... ?

An animal:  a monkey because I like laughing. I’m a joker... and, I hope, quite clever.

A tree: a maple that displays beautiful colours in the autumn.

A cooked dish: Kig ha farz, a delicious Breton dish that fills the belly up and makes you want a nap!

A colour: green, which embodies nature.

An object: a rugby ball.

A sport: the rugby, which I play for a club.

An item of clothing: shorts because it is hot on the field and in the greenhouses.

Desire and passion

A successful takeover of shares of the family business

I moved to the family farm in April 2015. For me, it was obvious that I should continue the adventure for myself, within the company created by my parents, Savéol members for almost 25 years. I have seen them work hard and love this profession since I was very young. I spent most of my summer vacations in the greenhouses as a child. A BEP in horticultural production and a technical-commercial BTS in my pocket, I built up my knowledge for a few months at their sides. I bought shares in the family business. The cooperative supported me through the administrative and legal procedures and also provided me with financial support. This return was only possible through the guarantee of commercial outlets offered by the cooperative. As far as the banker is concerned, Savéol’s image says it all!

I like being in contact with plants, the atmosphere of the seasonal teams in the midst of the production period, the challenge of growing beautiful and delicious strawberries that customers appreciate. To become a farmer today, it’s important of course have your feet on the ground and your head on your shoulders, because there are unavoidable economic realities. Above all, however, we must also have the desire and passion to take the first step.
